Aiming to live up to your full potential is great. In fact, everybody should share that goal. But how exactly can one be a high achiever? How can one fully use the skill that he/she has been blessed with? Are there special things that need to be done to improve the overall performance and quality of life? Read on to see the answer to these questions.
Living up to your greatest potential starts with how you perceive yourself. Your self-image plays a big role in determining how successful you can get. As you may have heard a lot of times before, happiness is a choice. So, be confident about yourself, and choose to be happy.
There is no direct way to achieve happiness. However, there are connecting ways that can lead you to that path.
The first thing to do is focus on the potential that you know about. Do an honest assessment of your potential. You can do this by making a list of your skills, the things that you do well. Apart from your known skills, make a list of the things you like to do even when you are uncertain if you can do them well enough. Also include in the list your hobbies.
Do not be too hard on yourself. In doing what’s listed in #1, list as much as you can. Unconsciously, most of us think very little of ourselves. Try not to be like that. Instead, act as if you are your forgiving and encouraging best friend to see more of your good sides than the bad.
With regards to the things you wish to do but feel that you won’t be able to perform well, reconsider if you could move some of them to your first list. Do the same with the activities you’ve listed as hobbies.
Then, have a list of things you would like to do if you could. Think of the skills or attributes you lack that make you incapable of the said activities. All these lists, what are they for? Basically, they are an assessment of yourself. Use this as your basis to see where your strength lies and what your weaknesses are. Focus on your strong points and try your best to improve on the weaknesses you’ve discovered. Do so and you will be able to reach your full potential.
